This is the birthplace of Kim Tae-won (1900-1951), who a resistance fighter of the Korean independence movement when Korea was under Japanese colonial rule.

At the age of 20, Kim participated in the nation wide-scale 'Samilundong(independence demonstration at march 1, 1919) and he continued to fight during 1919~1945 in Korea and China.

After the nation won independence from Japan, Kim returned to Korea with Kim Gu, a leader of Korea's Anti-Japanese movement, participated in the efforts to establish the new independent Republic of Korea.

In March 31, 1963, Kim was awarded a medal for his distinguished services for the independence and founding of the nation.
