Our area features the clear, artificial Daecheongho Lake, which was made in 1980, Maninsan Mountain, which stands at 537m, where the afterbirth of Yi Seong-gye has been rumored to be buried and blocks the wind from the south, and Sikjangsan Mountain, standing at 597m, stretches from the middle of Maninsan Mountain to the east over to Gyejoksan Mountain in the north. The water system of Dong-gu starts from Daedongcheon River and Maninsan Mountain where the stream originates on Sikjangsan Mountain and Daejeoncheon River, which combines with the stream from Sikjangsan Mountain flowing north.
As for climate, it is located in the interior of the Korean Peninsula and is less affected by the oceanic climate compared to other regions of the same latitude. Summer features high temperatures and humidity due to the air current flowing from the northern Pacific and winter features low temperatures and humidity due to the air current flowing from Siberia.
About 50~60% of annual precipitation occurs during summer with precipitation during winter at about 5~10%. Annual average precipitation is 1,458.7mm and annual average temperature is 13.0℃, which is higher compared to other regions of Chungcheongnam-do Province. Although the winter is longer and summer is shorter, it is a region with four distinctive seasons.
