Gyeongdu Fortress
Gyeongdu Fortress

This mountain fortress was built with natural stones during the Three Kingdoms Era at the summit of Gemeorisan(mountain), which rises 363 meters above sea level. The fortress stands 1.3 kilometers southeast of Gyejoksanseong(mountain fortress) and stretches approximately 280 meters in perimeter.

With the exception of the south wall, most of the fortress walls have been destroyed. On the west side of the fortress is an area slightly higher than its surroundings which is where once a commander post had been located.

Right on the foot of the fortress passes the road that links Shintanjin(town) and Okcheon(county). One can also see the Daechoungho(lake) when looking down from the fortress.

It is suggested that the purpose of Gyeondusanseong(mountain fortress) was to backup the fortification of Gyejoksanseong(mountain fortress).
