Maitreya organization site was constructed during the end of the Gorea dynasty by Hwang Yoon Bo. The operation fees were shouldered by the charities of the Hui Duk Hwang family. Aside from its importance as a historical relic, the Maitreya organization site is notable as it served as the venue for the first civil organization in Daejeon to deal with social welfare. Though originally focusing on relief activities for travelers, the organization expanded its operation into social structures and volunteer works. As a result of its humanitarian efforts, the organization was praised by numerous renowned scholars and personnel involved in politics, academe, and literary circle (such as Lee Saek, Ha Ryun, Byun Gye Ryang, Jung In Ji, and Song Si Yul).
The Maitreya organization site is an important historical relic because it clearly exhibits the generosity of the Daejeon people - which is one of the many local customs, along with ‘fresh wind bright moon’and loyalty.
Currently, the recognizable relics and sites are considered to have been obtained from the Chosun era. However, old pottery pieces were discovered from this site, thus implying that this site was used for ritual services during the period of the Three States.
