Wooden Seated Buddha at Bohyeonsa Temple
This statue features a lower class man with interchanged left and right hands. The Yukgye of the head is rather unclear but the center knot and top knot are clear. The posture is slightly bent and the face is amicable but only two principles are indicated instead of three principles on the shortened neck. The workpiece shows the Buddha statue style of the northern Gyeonggi region during the late 18th century through its strong facial expression featuring a straight nose and large eyes along with an expression of simplified folding in the clothing due to a thicker canonical dress.
