Daejeon Station

Overview

You can’t discuss the background of development of Daejeon without Daejeon Station. Dajeon Station was opened at Sannae-myeon, Gongju-gun in 1905 according to the Japanese plan for colony resource exploitation and continental invasion. Population growth and urbanization began, which led to further development. This was a place where people and resources from Chungcheong-do, Jeolla-do, and Gyeongsang-do gathered and scattered as the center of traffic right after independence and it was also a historic place where people arrived clinging to train rooftops initially after the Korean War began. Garak-guksu was sold as the trains stop for 10 minutes, and Daejeon Blues was sung by the people as they transferred trains at Daejeon... Many people have passed through Daejeon Station as they experienced their joys and sorrows of life and shared their pains. Modern cultural heritages are scattered around the radius of Daejeon Station including Mokcheokgyo Bridge, which existed alongside Daejeon Station, and Jungang Market, which is the largest market in the central region.
